The Lasers and Bytes came together on the 25th May for their open meeting at Bowmoor Sailing Club. The meet was made up of three races, with two to count for each class.
The Bytes had 19 entries, and it was BSC's Charlie Sansom who narrowly came out on top with a 1st and 2nd in the final two races. He was followed by Stu Moore of Weston SC who accumulated a 1st and 3rd in the first and final races, and West Oxfordshire SC's Mike Radford took third after two 2nd places in the first and second race.
The Lasers had 22 entries for the meet, which was also the first stage of the Wessex Grand Prix Series. No one could finish ahead of the dominant John Ling of Bartley SC who won all three races. Tim Keighley of West Riding SC finished just behind Ling each time, taking second overall in the series. Behind John and Tim the racing was closer with three different sailors taking 3rd place in each of the races. In the end, Hugo Joyce of BSC and clubmate Richard Lymposs both finished on equal points with a 3rd and a 4th, but Joyce took the third place by account of a better result in his discarded race.
