May Featured Club: Bowmoor SC

Bowmoor Sailing Club is a family friendly club with a large and varied program for our Junior and youth fleets. We have regular training days and a Youth camp where we regularly have over 60 sailors taking part.

Racing takes place every Sunday and on a Wednesday Evening in the Summer. Normally there are over 30 boats on the water for all of our race days, including in the depths of winter, with active fleets of Supernova’s, RS Aero’s, Lasers, Optimists and Bytes with other boats in the Handicap fleets and we run approximately 7 open meetings each year.

The lake is probably the biggest sailing lake in the Cotswolds and the best for setting courses for any wind direction. Combined with a large clubhouse, changing rooms, boat storage area, camping area, Bar and our soon to be completed enlarged deck area we can easily accommodate all of our current members and the new members whom we are recruiting.

A number of members use their dinghies and traditional day boats to go cruising on the lake. Our social events are run on a regular basis and try to encourage all of our members to visit the club on a regular basis.

Bowmoor Sailing Club is on the A417 between Fairford and Lechlade GL7 3DT.

Come and Try Day!

If you missed our first Come and Try day then come along to our final day this year and try dinghy sailing on Saturday, 19th May 2018 between 10.30 a.m. and 3.30 p.m.

Bowmoor helms will be on hand to take potential new members out on our lake.

Visitors are advised to bring a change of clothing and a towel just in case they get wet. Come and chat to members of the club (all ages!) to find out more – whether it’s social sailing, enjoying the fresh air on a fine day or competitive racing. We also cater for Windsurfing, Open Water Swimming, Paddle Boarding, RC Boats and Canoeing.
